A Note to Users Regarding Geographic Territories
Among other functions, the Service is designed to provide real-time (or near real-time) notifications of reports occurring within a certain radius of a user’s then-current physical location. Users located outside of such radius will not receive such notifications and the Service may not be functional for users physically located outside areas where the Service provides such notifications.
“Anonymous Information” means information that is not associated with or linked to your Personal Information; Anonymous Information does not, by itself, permit the identification of individual persons. We collect Personal Information and Anonymous Information, as described below.
“Personal Information” means information that allows someone to identify or contact you, including, for example, your name, address, telephone number, email address, as well as any other non-public information about you that is associated with or linked to any of the foregoing information.
Our Services and App are not directed to children and children are not eligible to use our Services or the App. Protecting the privacy of children is very important to us. We do not collect or maintain Personal Information from people we actually know are under 13 years of age, and no part of our App or Services is designed to attract people under 13 years of age. If we later learn that a user is under 13 years of age, we will take steps to remove that user’s Personal Information from our databases and to prevent the user from utilizing the App and the Services.
How We Collect Information
Information You Choose to Give Us
In general, the Personal Information we gather enables us to provide the Services to you and helps us learn more about the use of the App and/or Services. We collect Personal Information (such as your mobile telephone number) that you submit to us voluntarily at registration and in the course of your use of the App and/or Services. To use certain aspects of our Services, we may require you to create an “Account,” which may require you to provide additional information to us. You can choose whether to provide such additional information. If you elect not to provide such requested information, this may limit the features of the App and/or Services you are able to use.
When you communicate with us by sending us messages, we will collect and store any information that is contained in your communications with us.
Information We Automatically Collect When You Use Our Services
When you use our Services, we collect Anonymous Information about your use of the Services.
Content Information. We collect the content you provide and information about that content, such as the metadata associated with the content.
We collect device-specific information, such as the hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, browser type, language, wireless network, and mobile network information (including the mobile phone number).
We also collect device information that will help us diagnose and troubleshoot problems in the (hopefully rare) event you experience any crash or other problem while using our services.
Camera and Microphone. The Service requires that the App be permitted to access your camera and microphone. We’ll never access the camera or microphone unless you initiate the process to capture content via the Service.
Location Information. When you use our Services we collect information about your precise location using methods that include GPS, wireless networks, cell towers, Wi-Fi access points, and other sensors, such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, and compasses.
Log Information. We collect log file information when you use our Services. This information includes, among other things:
details about how you’ve used our Services
IP address or IMEI number
identifiers that are uniquely associated with your device
Disclosure – Analytics
We may also use third-party tracking services to help us analyze how users use the App and Services. These services collect only the unique device identifier assigned to your mobile device, rather than your name or other personally identifying information, and use it to collect information such as how often users open the App and what features they use in the App. We only use this information to improve our App and Services. We do not combine this information with your Personal Information and we do not associate you in any way with your device identifier.
How We Use Information
We will use your Personal Information to:
Administer your Account;
Provide you with Services and customer support;
Tailor the features and content of the Services to you;
Market to you our products and services and those of third parties that we believe may be of interest to you;
Respond to your requests, resolve disputes and/or troubleshoot problems;
Communicate with you about the Services.
We may also use your Personal Information to create Anonymous Information records by excluding information that makes the information personally identifiable to you.
We use Anonymous Information we collect to analyze trends, administer and improve the Services, track users’ movements in the App, gather demographic information about our user base as a whole, and better tailor our Services to our users’ needs. For example, some of the Log Files may be collected so that when you use the App again, it will recognize you and the information could then be used to serve advertisements and other information appropriate to your interests.
How We Disclose Information
Ouvos is a content creation and distribution platform. When you upload content through the App, including videos, that content may become public. This includes the metadata provided with such content, including when and where the content was recorded. We may enable functionality to allow your videos to be anonymous, but you will still be responsible for such videos.
We may also disclose certain Personal Information:
Third Parties Designated by You. When you use the Services, the Personal Information you provide may be shared with the third parties that you authorize to receive such information.
Third-Party Service Providers. We may share your Personal Information with our third-party service providers that help us provide Services that we offer you.
We reserve the right to disclose Anonymous Information publicly without restriction.
YOUR CHOICES REGARDING YOUR INFORMATION
Mobile Device. In order to use the Service in any manner, you must enable your mobile device as follows: to receive push notifications from the App; to permit the App to access both the camera and microphone for your device (at your election); and to permit the App to access your location (even in the background, i.e., when the App is not open on your device). (For example, the Service is designed to deliver push notifications to users within a certain radius of a reported incident.) If you do not enable your mobile device accordingly (including enabling any additional features or functions that Ouvos elects to make mandatory for use of the App), the App will not function on your device.
Changing or Deleting Your Personal Information. You may review, update, correct or delete the Personal Information in your Account by contacting us. If you completely delete all of your Personal Information, then your Account may become deactivated, although your profile and any content associated therewith will remain on the Services. We may also retain an archived copy of your records as required by law or for legitimate business purposes. Please remember, however, if we have already disclosed some of your Personal Information to third parties, we cannot access that Personal Information any longer and cannot force the deletion or modification of any such information by the parties to which we have made those disclosures. Certain information is necessary in order for us to provide the Services; therefore, if you delete such necessary information you may not be able to use the Services.
